Post-Natal Care
You've done it. The delivery is over. The big event is all done. You have successfully delivered your baby. What now...?Post-natal care refers to the care that the Mommy, baby and family might need after the birth of your baby. This is one of the strongest points of “Mom &I”. Often times Mom and Baby are discharged form hospital at a crucial time when hormonal changes bring about a drastic emotional and physiological reaction in the mother.
The new family is then left alone to handle this crucial period on their own. At “Mom & I” we endeavour to make a huge difference in this regard. If your baby was born at “Mom & I” and everything went well, you will remain at the practice for a minimum of 6 hours.
Great effort is made to ensure that the family leaves in a satisfactory condition and that the mother is empowered to care for her baby at home. Depending on where you stay, home visits will be arranged to ensure that the family copes with the adjustment of having a new member. The general care and feeding of the baby receives high priority. The midwife will assist and try to ensure that the art of breastfeeding is perfected. If your midwife delivered your baby in hospital, she will visit you there twice a day until you are ready for discharge. She might also visit you at home to ensure that the transition happens as smoothly as possible. She will also remain available for advice and care on request. The same care is available to patients who had Cesarean sections.A very important examination is done 6 weeks after the birth of the baby. A PAP-smear is also usually done at this time. After this visit, Mom & I are, of course, always happy to hear how you are doing and how the little one is growing, so feedback remains welcome at any time.
