How did Mom & I start?
Midwifery has always been (and will always be) in my blood. Although my various qualifications, e.g. degrees in nursing education; nursing administration; community health; psychiatric nursing; theology, etc., have landed me in a variety of esteemed positions, I have always come back to midwifery; in some way or the other!!
Until finally I decided: thus far and no further!!!!! I have served in many capacities, but the time has arrived for all my knowledge and skills to be consolidated into the ONE thing I love most; the one thing I want to do until I am no longer able to: deliver babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I then started with “Mom & I”. One of my goals was to help those who do not have medical insurance but still desire affordable private care. Little did I know that so many patients with medical insurance will also approach me for pregnancy and birth care. So now I have patients with and without medical funds, and I do deliveries at home or in hospital.
In an effort to help those without a medical aid, the idea of doing home deliveries in my own home was born. It is peaceful and well suited for this purpose. Some of the strongest skeptics have since become my most passionate supporters!! I praise God for His guidance and the abundance in which He blesses my work.

Without my family I would never have been able to “pull this off”. My husband, Chauve is an enormous help and support. Malise, turning 9 on February 18, 2014, considers herself the most fortunate kid in school. Although from a distance, she can regularly hear a baby’s first cry!! She is constantly designing pictures of aspects related to my practice (see at the end of this page). My two older daughters, Jade and Megan, and my son-in-law are a tremendous help; each in their own unique way.
Many people ask me if I am a doctor. No, I am not! I am an advanced midwife/specialist midwife. My daughter is a doctor yes and an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration, but my own doctoral studies (which I will hopefully complete at the end of 2014) is not in the medical field. It is rather in the field of my hobby, Biblical archaeology.
