Deliveries
You are expecting your baby!! And as a parent you want to give him/her the best possible entrance into this world. You want the freedom of choice of where and how to bring your baby into the world; who you can bring along to support you and who not; which interventions you feel comfortable with and which ones not.
Often time mommies are kept hostage by financial restraints and are they forced to have their babies under circumstances that they really resent. Decisions are often times made for them and not by them. Procedures are often times done to them without them really understanding why.
This was the main reason why “Mom & I” came into being!! We endeavour to help present the pregnant family with a wide range of choices. Being able to make informed decisions regarding your life, your pregnancy and the birth of your baby reduces stress and anxiety dramatically and leads to a far more enriching and pleasant birth experience (either in hospital or in the “Mom & I” home-based practice).
Patients are referred to “Mom & I” from gynaecologists; general practitioners; previous and current patients; doulas, pharmacies, maternity ward staff members and a variety of other directions. Many come because they cannot afford private hospital fees but still desire private birth care. Others, with no financial restraints, come because they prefer the personal care of an experienced midwife during the birth of their baby. Others still come because they are afraid of hospitals, medical staff in their uniforms, the clinical environment, the hustle and the association with pain.
Whatever your reason for browsing on this site… it will be worth your while to contact us at “Mom & I”. Be sure to get clarity on all your question marks.

Frequently asked questions:
- Can I come to “Mom & I” even though I have received my pregnancy care at another medical practitioner or clinic? Response: Sure, but contact us ASAP (as soon as possible)! We need to be able to go through your blood results, sonar reports, etc. in order to make a proper assessment of whether you are a low risk or a high risk patient. High risk patients require different precautions.
- Can I come to “Mom & I” for pregnancy care and then have my baby delivered at a government hospital. Response: Yes you can. However, we have found that many patients who come with that original intention soon change their minds. Once they realize that deliveries at “Mom & I” are quite affordable, they see no need to go to a hospital or MOU (Midwife Obstetrics Unit).
- My baby was born in hospital under the care of different medical practitioners. Can “Mom & I” still help me with after care (breastfeeding, check-ups on my baby, removal of stitches, etc.)? Response: Sure!!! Depending on your question/situation/need you can either come in to the “Mom & I” practice for assistance or we come to you house to assist you in your own environment.
